Great news

However, it was nothing to do with Lindsay being fired up imo...it was more to do with the overly hostile crowd, biased ref and tommy "im an arse" Gilmour

good news paul has signed with frank warren.

PAUL APPLEBY, the former British featherweight boxing champion from South Queensferry, has signed a contract with fight promoter Frank Warren

Appleby is hoping to return to the ring in May, possibly in Liverpool, and said: "After my loss to Irishman Martin Lindsay, Warren will move me towards world titles once I've had some fights to regain my sharpness."

His coach, Terry McCormack, added: "Frank Warren will be looking to fast-track Paul back into title contention after he has had a few warm-up bouts."

Appleby's stablemate, welterweight John Thain, will clash with Kevin McAuley, of Halesowen, when he makes his professional debut on 12 March in Liverpool

SOUTH QUEENSFERRY boxer Paul Appleby will have talks with the top ring management and promotional team of Jonathan Barnett and Frank Warren in London next month.
Terry McCormack, coach of the former pro British featherweight champion, explained that the meeting is scheduled for 4 February. "We still haven't ruled out signing talks with ex-world champion turned promoter Ricky Hatton as previously intimated," he said, "but Jonathan Barnett's sports management group have worked in the past with such names as former world heavyweight champion, Lennox Lewis and the idea would be for Barnett to manage Paul Appleby in tandem with Warren promoting his fights.''

Meanwhile, Lochend club coach McCormack disputed the points decision that saw Swedish lightheavyweight Kevin Kline win last night in Port Glasgow Town Hall against the Leith club's Mike McNeill. "The 8-2 verdict against my man McNeill was a travesty," he said. His stablemate Dick Dickson was also outpointed 12-2 by Viewpark's Andy McKenzie in a lightweight bout.

Two Leith Victoria boxers on the same bill had mixed fortunes with light-welterweight Paddy Jummelle being outscored by the Millennium club's David DePrato while light-heavyweight Tom Carter won an impressive points verdict against Millennium's Paul Allison.

Alex 'Sledgehammer' Strutt returns to the ring on a First Team Promotions action packed show at The Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
Alex was due to box in November, but had to pull out of the show after coming down with a virus. So he is raring to get back on track and keep busy in 2010.
Tickets are �30 or �50 ringside.

Lochend coach Terry McCormack, who will now be coach and chief corner man to Paul , They plan to meet Ricky Hatton and try and get signed up with Hatton Promotions.
